Say hello to a new iconic duo – craft beer and gelato!
Manila-based gelato producer Manila Gelato, the 2020 winner of the Philippines’ prestigious “Ultimate Taste Test”, has combined with local craft brewery Engkanto to release a limited edition beer-infused gelato range.
This exciting take on luscious Italian desserts and aromatic and flavourful craft beers is the result of Gelato Manila owner and chef Zarah Manikan’s continual desire to innovate from her kitchen, choosing to work with Engkanto because of the distinct profiles of their award-winning beers.

As an accomplished flavour creator, she relished discovering the character of the multiple award-winning beer variants to determine the ingredients that would complement the beer gelato recipes she made from scratch.
Three varieties have been created for this first limited edition run; Engkanto Citrus & Spice, India Pale Ale & Nuts, and Double IPA Chocolate Truffle.
Engkanto Citrus & Spice – a bright makeover of the craft brewery’s golden Blonde Ale. Oozing with citrusy notes from its original craft recipe, the sorbet-style dessert is complemented by the freshness of lemon. A dash of chilli flakes adds touch of heat and spiciness to every scoop.
India Pale Ale & Nuts – a milk-based delight that has toasted nuts, caramel, chocolate-coated potato strings, complementing the flavours of their India Pale Ale.
Double IPA Chocolate Truffle – featuring smooth layers of dark chocolate and raw cacao powder, made more decadent with the subtle fruity sensations of Double IPA beer.
All three Engkanto variants won awards at the recent Asia Beer Championship.
