India’s 12th Man Brewing targets Maharashtra sports lovers with canned craft beer
12th Man Brewing, a recent entrant in India’s craft beer market, has launched the first canned craft beer in the Maharashtra district. The brewery, founded by Tilak Gaurang Shah, aims to marry a passion for sports with the craft of brewing.
“The spectators act as a ‘12th man’ to the home team by creating an atmosphere that intimidates away teams,” explains Shah, regarding the origin of the brewery’s name. By using cans, the beer aims to be an ideal beverage for fans at home who are cheering on their teams.
The brew is available in three variants: Hefeweizen in 330ml cans, which is a German wheat beer that delivers flavours of clove with hints of banana and bubblegum; Indian Lager, also in 330ml cans, which is a light-bodied lager with a slight sweetness from the malt and herbal and floral undertones; and Red Gose in 500ml cans, produced to honour the recent visit to India of Manchester United ex-footballer and manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
