Coopers, the world’s largest manufacturer and exporter of DIY brewing products, has announced an expansion of its homebrew offerings beyond its traditional beer styles.

The renowned six-generation family owned Australian brewery has launched two new DIY extracts: a Ginger Beer and an Apple Cider. This move is a direct response to feedback from homebrewers seeking more variety and alternatives to beer for all occasions.

The new products tap into significant beverage trends according to Coopers Brewing Products Marketing Manager Scott Harris with consumption of ginger beer, one of Australia’s fastest-growing drink categories, tripling over the past five years.

The new Australian-made extracts feature all-natural flavours and are designed for both seasoned and first-time brewers.

The Coopers DIY Ginger Beer is described as a traditional recipe with zesty ginger and tangy spices. Notably, it offers brewers the flexibility to produce either a 3.5% ABV alcoholic version or a non-alcoholic brew. The Coopers DIY Apple Cider produces a light golden, sparkling cider with fresh apple aromas and a refreshing finish, also at 3.5% ABV.

“These two new extracts are in response to feedback we’ve received from customers wanting more variety in their DIY brewing options” said Harris “Our DIY ales, lagers and stout continue to be extremely popular but homebrewers have also been asking for an alternative to beer.”

Both extracts are packaged in a 500gm pouch which produces 10 litres of beverage. Following the simple “mix, brew, bottle” process familiar to users of Coopers DIY Beer kits, the cider and ginger beer are ready to drink just three weeks after primary fermentation. Mr. Harris highlighted the value proposition, noting that brewing at home can be significantly more economical, stating, “at a time when household budgets are squeezed, there’s now more options to enjoy great tasting drinks and save money.”

This continues the expansion of Coopers products beyond their traditional beer after they opened a $70m hospitality venue in Adelaide in 2024 featuring a state of the art distillery and microbrewery.

While the initial launch is focused on the Australian market, Coopers’ extensive global distribution network means homebrewers across Asia should look for these new options to become available through their local suppliers soon. This expansion provides a welcome new choice for the growing community of DIY beverage makers across the region.
