The biggest event in Cambodia craft beer is back. The Cambodian Craft Beer Crown is set to return this Saturday, August 16th, at the iconic Botanico Craft Beer Garden.
This year, the event celebrates creativity with a unique challenge centered around Cryo Hops.
Sponsored by Yakima Chief Hops, this year’s competition will see 12 of Cambodia’s top independent craft breweries go head-to-head. Each brewery has been tasked to brew their most unique beer using a “secret” Cryo Hop ingredient provided by the sponsor.
The event aims to showcase the talent and creativity within the country’s fast-growing craft beer scene.
Projekt Brews return to defent the title they won last year with other participating breweries including stalwarts of the scene Riel Brewing, Fuzzy Logic and Botanico as well as newcomers such as Mozzie’s Brewing Co. and Jaya-Vara (full list of competing breweries below). The ultimate champion will be selected through a combination of blind tastings by a panel of international expert judges and votes from the public. This ensures that both technical skill and popular appeal are rewarded.

Organizer and Craft Beer Association of Cambodia board member Marco Günther says the event is about more than just winning “It’s more than just a competition—it’s a gathering of a community that believes in great beer, local craftsmanship, and good times”. As his role as brewmaster for Botanico Craft Beer Garden he continues, “We’re incredibly proud to host this event again and celebrate the energy, quality, and creativity of Cambodia’s independent brewing scene.”
A Fun Day for All Beer Lovers
The competition day is a festival for brewers and the public alike, promising a fun, flavorful day out at Botanico’s beer garden in the heart of Phnom Penh. Entry tickets gets you a momento tasting glass and unlimited samples of all the competition beers.
DJ Wah-Wah & The Broken Cymbal will be laying on the tunes for the afternoon and there’s be a specially prepared beer-friendly food menu. from Botanico’s kitchen.
Guests will be able to cast their votes in the People’s Choice Award, helping to crown the champion, who will be presented with their crown by the German Ambassador to Cambodia, Stefan Messerer.
