Starbucks Korea has opened two new stores along Seoul’s Han River, introducing craft beer and cocktails to its menu as it looks to attract customers seeking a leisure-focused café experience.
The company, operated by Shinsegae Group in South Korea, unveiled a store at Ttukseom Han River Park on July 31 and another at Yeouido Han River Park on August 6. To differentiate the riverfront outlets from its standard cafés, Starbucks Korea has added alcoholic beverages to its menu.
The Ttukseom branch, situated on the first floor of the Han River Bus Terminal, gives customers the impression of floating on the water, with operating hours from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. to accommodate visitors who wish to enjoy the city’s nightscape.
The Yeouido outlet, designed with interiors resembling a cruise ship cabin, offers panoramic river views from its third floor.
Both stores sell Byuldabang Lager, a coffee-flavored craft beer co-developed with Shinsegae Food, which until now had been available only at the group’s Jarasoo Country Club in Gyeonggi Province.
The stores also offer cocktails including purple mango dragon fruit, piña colada, pink grapefruit rum tonic, and passion tea cosmopolitan.
The move marks a rare expansion beyond the brand’s traditional coffee-centered offerings in South Korea, Starbucks’ fifth-largest market globally.
The launch comes ahead of the planned start of the Han River Bus, a public water transportation service set to begin operations in September.
Starbucks said it expects the two locations to become popular summer destinations for Seoul residents and tourists.
