Once again the hunt is on for the best beers in Asia with registration for the 2022 Asia Beer Championship opening this coming Monday, 4th July.

The annual beer competition, now in it’s 5th year, will be judged in Singapore on the 6th & 7th October with the results announced at an awards presentation ceremony during SEA Brew 2022 in Bangkok on the 28th October.

With entries from throughout the region the championship is open to any beer brewed commercially within Asia. Beers may be entered into any of the 32 different beer and cider styles categories selected for the competition (28 beer & 4 cider).

Gold, Silver and Bronze awards will be presented to the top three beers in each category with beers that reach a pre-determined standard, but do not make it to the top 3 of their category, awarded the Chairman’s Selection accolade.

The competition will also award the Champion Large, Medium & Small sized Breweries of Asia, Champion Brewpub of Asia and ultimately the Champion Beer Of Asia for 2022.

Competition Dates

  • 4th July: Registration Opens
  • 31st August: Registration Closes
  • 6/7th October: Competition Judging
  • 28th October: Results Presentation at SEA Brew 2022

With borders opening once again the organizers are expecting a strong contingent of international judges to join the competition panel.

“We’re delighted to be welcoming back international judges for this year’s competition” said Competition Director Charles Guerrier “We have been very lucky to have had the support of local brewers and judges over the past couple of years, now they’ll have the help of the international judging community as we grow the competition post-pandemic”.

Since the inception of the competition South Korean breweries have traditionally taken top honours in the competition with strong showings at the awards, several times taking out Gold, Silver and Bronze in single categories. However with the brewing industry surging from strength to strength around the region the task to stay ahead of the pack gets tougher each year.
