Brew Asia Technical Sessions Return for 2023

We’re hitting the road! The Asia Brewers Network will be hosting a series of one-day masterclasses around the region specifically tailored to your needs as professional brewers.

The 2023 Brew Asia Technical Sessions will take place in Manila, Hong Kong and Seoul this June.

These one day sessions are designed to provide in-depth insights and expert knowledge for professionals in the brewing industry and precede the main Brew Asia conference in Ho Chi Minh City this October. They are also a great opportunity to take a day out of the brewhouse and catch up with friends in the industry.

Professional insights for craft brewers

Each day’s programme offers a comprehensive learning experience through workshops, presentations, and expert-led discussions.

“We’re excited to be back on the road this year after we had to postpone our in-person technical sessions over the pandemic” explains Asia Brewers Network Director Charles Guerrier. “Our first run of Technical Sessions in 2019 were very well received and we’ve been looking forward to starting these roadshows once again and address in-country topics of interest with brewers in a way we sometimes aren’t able to at Brew Asia due to the diversity of the audience.”

This year’s line-up of experienced guest presenters include Christopher Nueter (Nuts & Bolts), Michael Jordan (Engkanto Brewery), John Wei (Brewlander) and Oliver Woods (Beer Asia) as well as experts from presenting partners Lallemand Brewing, Yakima Chief Hops and Fermentis. Together they’ll be sharing their wealth of knowledge and experience in the brewing industry (please click on individual city links below for more programme details).

Christopher Nueter, a consultant with extensive brewing experience and former educator with VLB Berlin, will be leading a deep-dive into flavour stability. John Wei, a successful homebrewer turned commercial brewer now running one of Singapore’s largest craft breweries will be sharing valuable tips on CIP techniques for brewery up-scaling.

Along with running an Off-Flavour workshop in Manila brewmaster Michael Jordan will be exploring the equipment and costs involved in developing your in-house lab capabilities. Last, but certainly not least, digital marketing expert Oliver Woods will demonstrate how to effectively leverage digital marketing strategies to expand your brewery’s brand and reach.

These sessions are organized in collaboration with industry supply partners who will also be sending their experts to present on topics such as recipe development and the fast fermentation of lagers as well as a Siebel Institute of Technology sour flavours workshop.

On the quality of presenters, Guerrier continues “This line-up of presenters and partners boasts a huge number of years of experience across the brewing industry and the sessions are a great opportunity for brewers to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques in the brewing world.”

The day’s not all about work, however, and in traditional Brew Asia style each session will be followed by an evening social gathering for attendees to chill post-session out and catch up with friends at one of the local taprooms.

The 2023 Brew Asia Technical Sessions will be run in Manila (6th June), Hong Kong (13th June) and Seoul (16th June) – please click on the links below to find out more on each city’s programme.
