World Beer Awards 2024 winners announced

Beers from Japan, China, Cambodia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam win at UK awards event

The World Beer Awards 2024 has announced its winners after a final judging held in Norwich, United Kingdom earlier in August. The event was organised by Paragraph Publishing Ltd, an international publishing and events company based in the United Kingdom, in conjunction with one of its websites, thedrinksreport.

Numerous Asian brews were among those named the world’s best at this year’s event.

The World’s Best Dark Beer category was won by Vattanac Brewery of Cambodia for its Dragon Premium Dark Beer.

Japanese Brewers collected numerous wins, such as for the Miyazaki Hideji Beer Barley Wine, in the World’s Best Dark Barley Wine category; Spring Valley Daydream, for the World’s Best Flavoured Herb & Spice category; and Myoko Kogen Alpen Blick Beer Haneuma IPA, in the World’s Best English Style IPA category.

Toyoda Beer also won the World’s Best Amber/Dark Kellerbier category; Swan Lake Beer Barley won the World’s Best Pale Barley Wine category; Spring Valley Summer Craft Ale won the World’s Best Seasonal Pale Beer category; and Iwate Kura Beer Oyster Stout won the World’s Best Experimental Beer category.

Chinese brews also fared well with a number of category wins. These included the World’s Best Flavoured Wild & Sour Beer won by Schrodinger’s Brewing, Yet Not A Touch; the World’s Best Porter won by Newme Brewery, Dark Cloud Porter; the World’s Best Imperial/Double IPA by Jing-A Airpocalypse Double IPA; and the World’s Best Pale Belgian Style Strong won by Deerow Brewing, Deerow Master.

Other winners in the Asian region include the World’s Best Flavoured Honey & Maple Award to Engkanto Brewery of the Philippines for Its High Hive Honey Ale. Bia Lac Viet of Vietnam won the World’s Best Light Lager category; and Taiwan’s Buckskin Kölsch won The World’s Best Kölsch category.
