Singapore’s vibrant craft beer scene is filled to the brim with personalities, but not many people are aware of the number of industrious and knowledgeable women working away behind the scenes.

This brew is a tribute to them.

The team at SGBC decided to launch a campaign to highlight the 16 different women that work at the participating venues that will serve the beer.

To celebrate their contribution to the industry SGBC have created illustrations of all the women working at outlets where the beer will be served that are just as unique as they are.

“Working at SGBC allows us to show that women can be the driving force behind a craft beer brand in a market and segment that is traditionally anchored by men.” Lauren Wan, business development manager at SGBC.

In a traditionally male dominated industry the new brewery wanted to show that there is no mould for the face of craft beer in 2021.

And the beer? Ceiling Breaker Session IPA is a light, easy drinking English ale at 4.8% alcohol by volume (ABV) and 30 International Bitterness Units (IBU).

Created by SGBC head brewer Kim Wong, a 23 year industry veteran, and Little Creatures Brewing Co. head brewer Greg Brown.
The brew is double dry hopped using cascade and galaxy hops, and has delightful aromas of mango and other stone fruits, all while maintaining nice caramel notes from the malts.

The Ceiling Breaker Session IPA was brewed as a 500 litre special edition at the Little Creatures Mohammed Ali Lane brewery and launched on 4th March.

Two versions of the beer are available to the public: a cask conditioned, hand pumped version at the Little Creatures brewpub and traditional kegs at 5 outlets around the island – Hopstation, Smith St Taps, Temple Cellars, Smokey’s BBQ, and American Taproom.

This beer is limited so hurry along to one of the outlets serving it and raise a glass to all the wonderful women in our lives!
