India’s craft beer segment is booming, The brewer is aiming for 30% sales growth this financial year

Bengaluru-based Geist Brewing Co aims to scale its production capacity to 500,000 litres per month over the next three years, aligning with plans to boost sales by 30% by the financial year ending 2025, according to its CEO and co-founder, Narayan Manepally, in a recent Business Standard report.

The brewery, one of India’s pioneering craft beer producers, currently makes 120,000 litres monthly and anticipates increasing its output to 180,000 litres by March. The company is also targeting a same-store sales growth of 10–12% as it strengthens its position in India’s growing craft beer market.

The Indian premium-plus beer segment is outpacing traditional beer categories in urban areas, and Geist is positioning itself to meet this rising demand for craft beers. Upcoming product launches aim to expand the brand’s appeal in this evolving market.

To achieve its ambitious goals, its product offerings plan includes year-round releases, available in cans and on taps, and seasonal limited-edition variants. The canned range features options such as Geist Witty Wit, Uncle Dunkel, James Blond, and Kamacitra, with plans to introduce two new crowler options containing 6% alcohol or less.

Geist’s distribution is focused on kegs and crowlers which account for its monthly production of 200,000 litres distributed across its core markets of Bengaluru, Telangana, and Pondicherry. Kegs comprise 80% of this output, while crowlers contribute the remaining 20%.

The company views the entry of new players into the segment as a positive, that will help drive the market’s growth. Ultimately, consumers will shape the market by their preferences for well-crafted beers. Geist plans to capitalise on this by remaining focused on delivering quality and consistency that will stand out.
