distillAsia 2025, which was hosted by the Asia Brewers Network (ABN) last week in Bangkok has been hailed a resounding success, generating excitement in the Asian craft spirits industry.
“Our first conference has been very successful,” said Charles Guerrier, Founder of the ABN, the event’s organizer. “The energy and enthusiasm in the room from attendees and exhibitors showed the significant potential of the Asian craft spirits market.”
distillAsia, held at the Berkeley Hotel Pratunam, was an important platform for distillers, suppliers, and industry leaders from across the region to come together and share knowledge and ideas.
The conference program was a key feature, with a range of technical presentations and workshops. James Young of Old Young’s Distillery (Aus), shared his insights into what makes a business successful in the day’s Keynote Address “Opportunity. Challenge. Spirit,” while other experts covered topics such as yeast strain fermentation, pot still technology, barrel aging and recipe development. Panel discussions on the future of Asian spirits and strategies for market growth encouraged discussion and collaboration.

One of the highlights of the day was the Flavour Workshop during which attendees were able to taste and learn about the production methods for Về Để Đi Distillery’s World Champion New Make Pale Ale (whisky), Old Young’s Umami Spirit Gin (made using mushrooms and truffles) and Kalagan Single Malt whisky, distilled and barrel aged in Bali.

The Craft Expo displayed the latest innovations in distilling and packaging equipment and fermentation aids, providing a valuable space for distillers to connect with suppliers. Exhibitors reported positive engagement with attendees, noting the event’s effectiveness in creating business opportunities.
A Sharing Bar at the show enabled regional producers attending the conference to showcase their latest recipes. Bangkok’s lively atmosphere also contributed to the event’s success, with attendees enjoying evening networking drinks after the show as well as the city’s renowned hospitality and growing cocktail scene.
“We hope distillAsia will established itself as the main spirits conference in Asia, playing a key role in craft distilling across the region. Our aim is for the show’s focus on connections, knowledge sharing and innovation will aid the growth of the Asian craft spirits market” said Charles “With the encouraging feedback we have received from this year’s show plans are already underway for distillAsia 2026!”
