The Beijing-based brewery announces the UK collaborators at its annual brewing project
Chinese craft brewery Jing-A Brewing will host its annual 8×8 Brewing Project event, which will pair eight Chinese breweries with eight British counterparts, to collaborate on creating eight exclusive specialty beers themed around British brewing traditions. The event will be held from 18-19 October at the C7 Light Theatre near Beijing’s 798 Art District. The limited-edition brews will only be available during the two-day project.
Beijing-based Jing-A has unveiled the selection of collaborative beers, which include both traditional styles and experimental flavours. The offerings will include, among others, a sticky Chinese date pudding barleywine, which is a collaboration between Jing-A and Siren Craft Brew from Berkshire in the United Kingdom (UK); a fruited pastry sour created by Yardley Brothers of Hong Kong and the Track Brewing Co of Manchester, UK; and an Earl Grey and Keemen Black Tea West Coast pilsen, developed by China’s Anhui-based Myth Monkey Beer (MMB) and the Northern Monk brewery from Leeds, UK.
The 8×8 Brewing Project is organised into four sessions: one on Friday and three on Saturday. Each session will showcase the collaborative beers alongside four selections from each participating brewery, allowing attendees to sample over 40 different beers per session. In total, the event will offer 136 unique beer tastings over the two days.
Regular tickets to the event currently remain available. For those unable to attend, Jing-A has released a preview of their collaboration with an English Special Bitter (ESB) named Bitter Better. The ale features a copper hue with a malt-forward profile, offering notes of toffee and biscuit alongside a light sweetness.
Jing-A Brewing Co. was founded in 2013 and has played a significant role in the burgeoning craft beer scene in China, offering a diverse range of beer styles that cater to both local and international tastes.
