The Scottish-headquartered brewer continues its expansion into Asia
BrewDog, a multinational brewery and pub chain headquartered in Scotland, has announced plans to expand into Thailand through a partnership with Atalanta Hospitality.
The plans include opening several bars in Bangkok, with the first one to be located in the capital’s Ploenchit district, a bustling area known for its vibrant nightlife, according to the announcement.
The expansion marks BrewDog’s first foray into the Thai market, aligning with the company’s broader international expansion strategy. This year alone, BrewDog has opened new bars in Perth, Rotterdam, and Denver. The company has been steadily building its presence in Asia in recent years with the opening of Brewdog Shanghai in China in 2020, and deals in Japan and India.
BrewDog, known for its craft beers and innovative business model, currently operates over 100 bars and hotels globally. Last year, the company announced an ambitious plan to open an additional 200 venues in key markets over the next seven years.
Jerry Taechaubol, CEO of Atalanta Hospitality, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the excitement of introducing BrewDog to Bangkok. BrewDog Bars CEO James Brown emphasised the company’s expansion goals, noting their ambitious objective set last year to treble the bar estate over the next decade.
Founded in 2007 in Ellon, Scotland, by James Watt and Martin Dickie, BrewDog has rapidly grown into one of the most recognised names in craft brewing and is one of the largest craft brewers globally. The company has built a reputation for its bold and unconventional finance and marketing tactics, such as the “Equity for Punks” crowdfunding campaign, which allowed the public to directly invest in the business.
