7 Eleven stores in South Korea are selling their first low calorie draft beer in a can to target the country’s growing health-conscious consumer segment

7 Eleven has launched Saint Light Beer across its South Korean stores from 9 July 2025, introducing it as the country’s first light draft beer in a can tailored for health-conscious consumers to be available in a convenience store chain.

The release reflects the company’s desire to tap into the growing popularity of the ‘healthy leisure’ lifestyle trend in the country, which gained momentum during the pandemic as more consumers sought lower-calorie drinking options.

Produced by Y Brewery — a leading South Korean craft brewer that supplies draft beer to many pubs — Saint Light continues the success of Saint Draft Beer, which gained popularity in 2024. Like its predecessor, it is unpasteurised and has a short shelf life of around one month, preserving the integrity of its live yeast and rich malt character. Y Brewery’s unique brewing method avoids the sparging process, further enhancing malt depth.

Saint Light Beer has 45% fewer calories than last year’s Saint Draft Beer and contains no added sugar. With an alcohol content of just 3.8%, it is designed for lighter, more casual consumption. The beer is brewed using premium hops sourced from Germany and the United States, offering a richer taste profile that helps overcome the widespread perception of light beer as being thin or watery. It is also distributed via a full cold-chain supply system, ensuring it reaches consumers with maximum freshness.

To support the launch, 7 Eleven is offering a 35% discount on four-can bundles of its draft beer range, including the new Saint Light. The retailer has also rolled out other summer promotions such as domestic and imported beers available with a 20% discount until 31 July when purchased using Kakao Pay, Lotte, Samsung, or BC cards.
