A major craft beer festival showcasing approximately 300 different brews from across South Korea will take place in Osan, Gyeonggi Province, according to city officials.

The 12th edition of the Yamaek Festival will run from June 5 to 7 at Osaek Market, a long-established traditional market in the city. The event aims to blend the heritage of Korean marketplaces with the modern appeal of the country’s burgeoning craft beer industry.

This year’s festival will feature a wide array of craft beers produced by microbreweries from various regions. In addition to beer tastings, the program includes promotional events, cultural exhibitions, and live performances, creating an immersive experience designed to attract both beer enthusiasts and casual visitors.

The Yamaek Festival serves a dual purpose of celebrating local craft beer culture while supporting the economic revitalisation of traditional markets. The event has grown in scale since its inception, increasingly viewed as a key initiative in connecting younger generations with Korea’s market traditions.

Held annually, the festival has become a prominent feature in the local tourism calendar and a platform for small breweries to reach a broader audience.

By hosting the event at Osaek Market, organisers hope to draw attention to the value of traditional commercial spaces in a rapidly modernizing retail landscape.

City authorities anticipate strong turnout over the three-day event and expect local businesses to benefit from the increased visitor flow, with food stalls, crafts, and live entertainment contributing to the festive atmosphere.
