The brewing industry is in a constant state of evolution, a delicate dance between time-honoured traditions and the relentless march of technology. For today’s brewers, particularly those in the fast-evolving craft beer market, staying ahead of the curve is a necessity.
This year, Brew Asia 2025, running from October 16-17 in Bangkok, is leaning into this reality, offering a comprehensive look at the tools, ingredients, and ideas that will define the breweries of tomorrow.
Learning from the past to innovate for the future
To understand where the industry is going, one must understand where it has been. Providing this crucial perspective is keynote speaker Fal Allen, head of Research & Development at California’s Anderson Valley Brewing Co. and an early pioneer of the US craft beer movement. In his address, “Thoughts on 50 years of Innovation,” Fal will take attendees on a journey through the cycles of the modern brewing industry, providing an invaluable framework for understanding what true, sustainable innovation means today.
The Rise of the Intelligent Brewery
Perhaps the most tangible glimpse into the future of brewing will be found in the sessions dedicated to brewing tech and data. Spencer Jemelka of Redpoint Brewing Co. will dive into the topic of automating your brewery and business workflows with AI Agents. This will be a practical guide on how breweries can deploy AI to streamline operations, reduce errors, and save time. Both brewers and business owners will come away with key takeaways they can implement in their day-to-day operations.
Complementing this, presenting on “Yeast Management in the Digital Age,” Dr. Lindsey Male of Aber Instruments will be exploring how cutting-edge capacitance technology is revolutionizing fermentation for unprecedented levels of consistency and efficiency.
Innovation in Recipe Design: The Science of Drinkability
Future-forward thinking isn’t just about new technology; it’s also about innovating the beer itself. Kilian Kittl, Managing Director of Bavaria’s Private Brauereien Bayern and Director of the European Beer Star, will address this in his technical dive into the “Aspects of Drinkability.”
His session will demystify this crucial concept for commercial success, explaining the technical parameters brewers can control to improve it, showcasing innovation in product design.

The Raw Materials Revolution
Process and technology are only part of the story; true innovation is also happening within the fundamental building blocks of beer. This year, Brew Asia will have a strong focus on the cutting-edge of raw materials.
Attendees will have the chance to learn about Barth Haas’s new release, Prysma, a revolutionary hop-derived flavour platform that is transforming how brewers achieve specific aroma and flavour profiles with incredible efficiency.
In the Innovation Zone, Totally Natural Solutions will be demonstrating their advanced hop extracts, showcasing how specialized hop oils can solve complex challenges like delivering clean, expressive late-hop flavour in lagers or restoring body and balance in no/low-alcohol beers.
On the fermentation side, Fermentis will be launching a brand-new yeast strain. Attendees will be among the first in Asia to taste a beer fermented with this yeast, featured exclusively in the official Conference Brew. And not forgetting the soul of beer, Australia’s Joe White Maltings will have some of their latest specialty malts available for sampling, proving that innovation continues to happen even in the most traditional of ingredients.
A hall full of discovery
The bustling exhibition hall is where you can experience these future-focused concepts firsthand. The returning Innovation Zone will be a must-visit, serving as a curated showcase for the next generation of brewing tech and ingredients.
The Trade Fair is the place to discuss new products with the technical teams on hand and explore the ideas discussed in the conference halls with the experts who created them.
Under the theme of “Optimize, Innovate & Grow”, Brew Asia 2025 is shaping up to be a strategic look over the horizon. By blending the lessons of the past with the exciting technology and ingredient innovations of today, the show is providing a clear vision for the future of craft beer in Asia.
