In our latest ABN talks Oliver Woods speaks with Richard Kim, founder and head brewer at South Korea’s Playground Brewery.

Playground, founded in 2016 and very much part of the ‘second wave’ of brewery openings in the republic, were the first craft brewery to can their beers in Korea.

During their talk they cover topics ranging from the potential of the Korean craft beer market and the impact of recent alcohol law changes to their customers arriving at their taproom on tractors and creating a high ABV beer to mimic the ubiquitous Korean beer and spirit ‘Soju Bomb’!

Richard also discusses the impact serving good food has had on their business (challenging the then norms of the traditional Korean drinking culture) and how their striking packaging has helped sales.
