A new partnership for online brewing education in Asia

Fermentis

The Asia Brewers Network (ABN) has launched a regional partnership with the Siebel Institute of Technology to provide brewers with continuing education online.

The objective of the course, in the form of on-demand lectures, is to help brewers with continual education remotely and affordably, ideally overcoming the barriers of cost.

One of the challenges brewers and beer businesses in Asia face is a lack of access to brewing education.

Most established education programs in Europe or America are simply not an option due to costs and lengthy course times so most brewers and beer professionals are limited to self education or on-the-job learning.

To enhance brewers’ skills in place of formal education and to help business owners wanting to provide education to their teams, the ABN has partnered with renowned Siebel Institute of Technology to offer 19 specialized lectures under their World Brewing Academy (WBA).

The World Brewing Academy, a collaboration between the Siebel Institute of Technology and Doemans Academy, focuses on accessible continuing education for brewers internationally.

“Siebel is thrilled to join the ABN’s efforts to promote better brewing education,” shares Richard Dube, the Director of Online Education at Siebel Institute of Technology.

“We are excited to partner with Asia Brewers Network and offer Specialized Lectures grouped into small, accessible pods. The format allows brewers to gain expert knowledge on specific topics in a short period.”

The fully narrated lectures from the WBA Specialised Lecture Programme assume a basic level of brewing knowledge. They are designed to enhance brewers’ skills in place of formal education, covering a wide variety of topics relevant to beer production, brewery management, and more.

To ensure ease of access for busy beer professionals, the lectures are available to watch online (across desktop, mobile and tablet) anytime.

The fully narrated lectures cluster around five topics – known as ‘pods’ – covering ingredients, operations hot side, yeast, cold side operations, and quality control.

Ensuring maximum recognition and relevancy for the time invested in studying, once students complete each pod, they will receive a unique Certificate of Accomplishment. A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to brewers who complete all five pods.

“We are delighted to work with such a respected education provider and be able to offer this educational opportunity to brewers across the region who, in many cases, have limited opportunities to upgrade their skills,” shares Charles Guerrier, Director, Asia Brewers Network.

The lectures when accessed through the Asia Brewers Network website are offered at a 30% Discount for an introductory period.
