Sapporo Breweries has teamed up again with the renowned Japanese manga artist to design limited-edition Yebisu Beer cans for launch in September
Sapporo Breweries is once again joining forces with renowned manga artist Hirohiko Araki to launch a new limited-edition Yebisu Beer can, set to debut across Japan on 17 September. The collaboration builds on the success of their initial partnership earlier this year and forms part of a wider strategy to modernise the brand while honouring its heritage.
The second edition features an original illustration by Araki—celebrated worldwide for his iconic JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure series—reimagining Yebisu Beer’s classic promotional imagery with a Western-clad woman rendered in his distinctive, vibrant style. This latest artwork continues Araki’s reinterpretation of the historic bijin-ga (beautiful women paintings) that once adorned Yebisu posters.
The special design will be available in both 350ml and 500ml can formats, retaining the original Yebisu Beer recipe made with 100% malt and Bavarian hops, brewed under a long-term ageing process that dates back to the brand’s founding in 1890.
Sapporo Breweries is supporting the launch with an extensive marketing campaign aimed at engaging younger and culturally attuned consumers. From 17 September to 31 December, customers purchasing specially marked six-packs will be eligible to win premium replica cans faithfully reproducing Araki’s original colour palette.
Additionally, a “follow and repost” competition will run on social media platform X between 17 and 24 September, with 100 winners receiving a full case of the limited-edition cans.
Public events celebrating the release will be hosted in both Tokyo and Osaka. Event specifics will be announced closer to launch.
