Jade’s Temple Brewery has launched Kauri Taproom, its first dedicated venue in Metro Manila, offering an innovative mix of Filipino flavours and contemporary craft brewing.

The Kauri Taproom officially opened in July in San Juan City, at the heart of the National Capital Region, and marks a significant milestone for Jade’s Temple Brewery. Founded in 2021 by Dea Suyosa and based in nearby Mandaluyong, the microbrewery has gained a reputation for its imaginative beer offerings and uniquely Filipino approach to craft brewing.

The taproom showcases a carefully curated range of beers that highlight local ingredients and flavour traditions. Among the signature brews available are Mango Lager, Tsokolate Stout, which carries rich cacao notes, and the indulgent Black Forest Lager. Other highlights include Baguio Strawberry Lager, Duhat Sour, and Gumamela Dalandan Saison. These are complemented by two of the brewery’s flagship selections: a bright and floral Sampaguita Orange Ale and a refreshing classic lager. All beers are crafted using modern brewing methods while emphasising native fruits, spices, and botanicals to bring out flavours familiar to Filipino palates.

Beyond beer, Kauri Taproom has also developed an inventive cocktail programme in collaboration with veteran mixologists Errol Barbosa and Louie Frigilliano, both formerly associated with Raffles Hotel in Singapore. Their drink list is deeply rooted in local ingredients and culinary inspiration. The Buko Pandan Cocktail evokes a nostalgic dessert profile, while the Atsara Highball offers a crisp, tangy twist. The Inasal Old Fashioned pays homage to grilled Filipino fare, and the standout Kauri Margarita infuses patis (fish sauce) and chilli for an adventurous reinterpretation of the classic cocktail.

The taproom is intended to be more than just a venue for drinks; it has been designed as a social space that brings together community, culture, and creativity. Its name, “Kauri”, draws dual inspiration from the kauri tree and the Tagalog word ka-uri, meaning kindred or of the same kind — a reflection of the establishment’s mission to foster belonging and shared experiences.
