The South Indian craft brewer expands to Puducherry, with a six-beer selection in cans and on tap

South India’s craft beer producer, Geist Brewing Co, has expanded its operations to the city of Puducherry, bringing a selection of its beers to the coastal enclave, known for its blend of French colonial heritage and Indian culture.

The Bengaluru-based brewery has launched its craft beers in both taps and cans, offering locals and tourists alike a taste of its diverse range, according to Geist.

The expansion includes six beer variants: Geist Witty Wit, Geist Uncle Dunkel, Geist Kamacitra, Geist James Blond, Geist Weiss Guy, and Geist Repeat. These range in style from the citrusy, Belgian-style Geist Witty Wit, brewed with orange zest and coriander; to the robust Geist Uncle Dunkel, a German-style dark wheat beer.

Also available are the hoppy Geist Kamacitra, a deep orange American IPA; and the potent Geist James Blond, a Belgian-style Strong Blonde Ale. The lineup is completed by Geist Weiss Guy, a Bavarian-style Weissbier, and Geist Repeat, a light, top-fermented premium lager.

Geist founder Narayan Manepally highlighted that Puducherry’s distinctive historic character makes it an ideal location for their craft beers. The beer-drinking culture in India is rapidly evolving, according to Manepally. By offering fresh craft beer both on tap and in cans, the company is not only expanding its reach, but also enhancing the overall beer-drinking experience.
