The popular Philippine craft brewer has opened its first taproom in Santa Rosa, south of Manila
Engkanto Brewery, a popular, well-established craft beer brewery based in the Philippines, has launched its first taproom, Engkanto Taps, in Santa Rosa, Laguna, a small city about 40 kilometres south of Metro Manila. The recent opening aims to capitalise on the extended Christmas celebrations that take place in the Philippines.
The new venue showcases Engkanto’s range of award-winning craft beers, which include its High Hive Honey Ale, which was named World’s Best Beer in its category at the 2024 World Beer Awards; and its Paint Me Purple Ube Lager, also popular in the United States and Australia.
The taproom also features a curated menu, pairing Engkanto’s beers with a selection of appetisers and main dishes. Signature pairings include spicy chili-con beef croquettes, Bacolod-style skewers, and savoury shrimp dishes, alongside unique sauces made with Engkanto’s ales.
In addition to traditional beer offerings, Engkanto Taps serves innovative cocktails that incorporate the brewery’s distinct beer flavours. Examples include a creamy stout-infused espresso martini and a highball featuring a double IPA and agave syrup, enhancing the drinking experience with creative twists.
The taproom boasts twelve beers on tap, including the core lineup and limited-release options, while offering beer flights for patrons to sample multiple styles without committing to full pints. Plans are underway to introduce a ‘guest tap’ which will feature other local breweries and will help promote a diverse craft beer culture.
Engkanto Taps is currently open from 5.00p.m, to 2.00a.m. and is located in Erhlind Square, Santa Rosa.
