The Asia Beer Championship and the globally-renowned European Beer Star have agreed on a new strategic cooperation, marking a significant development for the international brewing community. This partnership will create a framework for sharing organisational expertise and enhance the pathway for Asian breweries to compete on a global stage.

For breweries across Asia, this collaboration provides greater access to one of the industry’s most respected awards. Charles Guerrier, Director of the Asia Beer Championship and Asia Brewers Network, stated, “the European Beer Star is considered as one of the toughest beer competitions in the world and for breweries from Asia participating in and, above all, winning the European Beer Star is a great achievement.”

Kilian Kittl, Managing Director of the Bavarian Association of Private Breweries and Project Manager of the European Beer Star, highlighted the mutual benefits. “Asia is a booming market with a passionate craft beer scene,” says Kittl. “With this cooperation, we want to make it easier for high-quality beers from Asia to take part in the European Beer Star. In addition to the opportunity to win an award, they particularly appreciate the feedback from our expert jury”.

The Asia Beer Championship showcases the very best of the regions’ brewing, with 800 entries from across the continent competing in 58 distinct categories. A strict ‘brewed in Asia’ rule ensures the competition is a true celebration of local innovation and quality. The field of participants in the European Beer Star includes beers from over 50 countries, which compete for the coveted gold, silver and bronze awards in over 70 categories.

This partnership will also create a framework for sharing organizational expertise, ensuring both competitions can elevate the experience for all competing breweries.

“We’re thrilled to be aligning with the European Beer Star, a competition we hold in high regard,” commented Charles Guerrier. “We share a belief that competitions must constantly innovate and improve. By optimizing how beers are assessed and how feedback is delivered, we can create more valuable and informative platforms for everyone involved.”

The Asia Beer Championship’s judging will be held in Singapore in September with the winners announced at the annual Brew Asia conference in Bangkok, October 17th.

Both competition organizers are hoping this cooperation between a premier global competition and Asia’s leading regional championship will mark a valuable step in connecting the worldwide brewing industry.
