Asia Beer Championship inspires 3-way champions collab

Japan’s Far Yeast Brewing Co. takes great pride in maximizing their use of the ever-changing brewing landscape that surround us and with it the endless possibilities of beers that can be produced.

This attitude has spurred their brewing team onwards to produce a wide diversity of beers from a core offering of sesionable ales to their experimental Offtrail range and helped inspire one of their most popular products “Hop Frontier Juicy IPA” which contained an experimental cryo-hop cocktail TRI-2304CR from Yakima Chief Hops which took last year’s Asia Beer Championship by storm as the “Champion IPA of Asia”

This win inspired them to set a new benchmark for the company – a three-way collaboration of champions. This cooperation sees the 2023 Asia Beer Championship Champion Brewery of Japan team up with Singapore’s Champion Brewery, Brewerkz, and Hong Kong’s Champion Brewery, Deadman Brewing, to release “Fairest Lady”.

The resulting brew is a homage to Deadman Brewing’s Gold Medal winning pale ale “Mirror Mirror” with the three breweries adding a few “upgrades” to the malt and hop profile including the addition of the newly developed “Idaho 7 – 701 Hop Oil” from Yakima Chief Hops’ FWD program.

The Idaho 7 – 701 Hop Oil gives the brew an unorthodox tropical fruit nuance that you would not normally have in a more traditional pale ale giving it a harmonious balance of aromas of tropical and stone fruit, supported by a mild malty backbone and mild lingering bitterness.

Fairest Lady American Pale Ale is a 3-way collaboration between Far Yeast Brewing Co., (JPN), Brewerkz (SGP) and Deadman Brewery (HKG)

Far Yeast Brewing Company CEO Shiro Yamada was delighted by the initiative of his brewing team commenting “This collaboration among champion breweries was an inspiring way of understanding our differences in order to come together to create this concept of a ‘winner’s collaboration.’ We should see more of these to boost the craft beer culture in the Asian markets!”

Each brewery brings its own unique flair to this collaboration. Far Yeast Brewing, known for its inventive takes on traditional styles, contributes its meticulous attention to detail and adventurous spirit. Deadman Brewing, whose “Mirror Mirror” captivated judges and enthusiasts alike, lends its bold, experimental edge. Brewerkz, a stalwart of the Singaporean craft beer scene, brings its deep well of expertise and a knack for creating balanced, drinkable beers.

This bold American Pale Ale displays a harmonious balance of tropical and stone fruit aromas, supported by a mild malty backbone and a lingering bitterness that invites another sip. It’s a modern take on a classic style, a reflection of the collaborative spirit and shared passion of its creators.

Tan Wee Han, CEO of Brewerkz, observed “This international collaboration embodies the spirit of camaraderie, cultural exchange, and innovation. It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to share knowledge and elevate our brewing expertise, resulting in extraordinary creations that celebrates our craft,”

“This is what’s great about the craft beer industry” remarked Jason Lee, Head Brewer at Deadman Brewing “Other industries may keep the best knowledge to themselves, but in craft brewing we share and help each other grow. We have learnt from each other on this project by sharing knowledge and recipes of our award winning beers.”

Fairest Lady will be available for attendees of this year’s Brew Asia in Singapore to sample on October 3rd/4th.
