American Brew Crafts acquires east India brewery to fuel growth

The Indian brewer targets aggressive growth with the purchase of Denzong Brewery in Odisha

Hyderabad-headquartered American Brew Crafts Pvt Ltd (ABCL) has announced its recent acquisition of Denzong Brewery located in Odisha in eastern India. ABCL says it will invest upwards of INR800 million (USD9.58 million) in the purchase and renovation of the brewery which has the capacity to produce 200,000 cases of beer per month.

The extra capacity will enable American Brew Crafts to increase its total output of its current range of Flying Monkey, Blockbuster, and Karjura beers up to 800,000 cases per month. It will also support further expansion and rapid growth in its footprint across east and northeast India.

The acquisition, the third one the company has made, underscores ABCL commitment to aggressive growth in the craft beer market across India. The brewer will now operate three state-of-the-art breweries equipped with the latest German technology in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and now Odisha, to provide and maintain a consistent and regular supply of product across it current geographies of operation.

“The acquisition will help us expand our production capacity and cater to the increasing consumer demand across the region,” says Sri Nagendra Tayi, Director and Chief Executive Officer of American Brew Crafts. “The addition of Denzong Brewery into the American Brew Crafts family … will also play a critical role in expanding our reach in the east and northeastern parts of the country.”

American Brew Crafts was established in 2017, and has since acquired breweries from Lilasons Brewery in Telangana, Arthos Brewery in Andhra Pradesh, and now Denzong Brewery. It also recently upgraded its original brewing infrastructure by installing state-of-the-art German machinery and a packing zone.
