Following a successful competition debut in Singapore in 2021 the Asia Brewers Network will be launching Brew King in the Philippines this June.
The freestyle brewing challenge has been designed to give commercial brewers the freedom to express themselves without the traditional boundaries of beerstyle guidelines.
On entering the competition brewers will be tasked to brew a beer according to a competition concept brief. They can produce any beerstyle they like (recognized or not) to showcase a designated hero ingredient and concept in their beer.
The beers entered will then be judged according to the brewer’s notes of what they were aiming to produce.
One brew to rule them all
Unlike other beer competitions that follow strict style guidelines and have many competition categories, brewers competing in Brew King need only brew one batch of beer.
This beer can be whatever they would like to brew so long as it meets the competition brief which will change every year for a fresh competition challenge.
This year’s brief? Competitors entering Brew King Philippines 2022 will be asked to brew a tropical beer that showcases the characteristics of the El Dorado hop.
The first Brew King, run in Singapore in 2021, was won by Sunbird Brewing Co. with their “City of Gold” hazy copper IPL
To help them with their brew competition sponsors CLS Farms will be providing complimentary El Dorado® hops as well as technical support for any brewers requiring it.
Competition registration will open on 30th May and close on 10th June 2022.
Judging will be held over 2 rounds on the 30th July. The competing brewers will be invited to select the best 5 beers after which attendees at a public tasting event will be asked to vote for their favourite from these 5 brews.
The most popular beer as voted by the public will be proclaimed Brew King Philippines 2022!
