Brewdog co-founder and ex-North Sea fishing trawler captain James Watt has revealed they are on course to open their latest Brewdog craft beer bar, and first in India, within the next few months. He made the announcement in his LinkedIn feed.

The Scottish brewer had previously declared their intention to open 35 craft beer bars in India over the next four years with Brewdog Mumbai being their first. The opening of the bar, which will be the 103rd in the Brewdog bar portfolio, in the Kamala Mills area of the city had to be re-scheduled from earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic and is now expected to open sometime in August when it is safe to do so.

The bar will feature Brewdog’s signature beers on tap alongside local brews and will also carry Brewdog Distilling Company’s vodka, rums and whiskeys.

Siddharth Rastogi, CEO of BrewDog India, revealed that they also plan to open outlets in Pune, Gurugram (2), Bengaluru and another in Mumbai between September and November.

This is part of Brewdog’s global strategy to build a network of craft beer bars. The Ellon (Scotland) based brewer are planning to grow the existing network of just over 100 bars to 750 by 2024.

Brewdog was founded in 2007 by James Watt and Martin Dickie and is currently valued as a US$2 billion company. In 2019 they broke into the top 25 of the World’s Biggest Beer Brands according to Brand Finance, the only craft brewer to make it onto the list.
